The Object of the Exercise: A New Chapter for Our Business

Discover why our business is making a strategic pivot to teach how to build profitable, sustainable businesses with a positive global impact.

If you've been following the journey, you've witnessed the evolution of the Global Language Community and the YouTube channel, "English Teacher Dale Snavely. "A recent blog post highlighted some of the personal hurdles that were instrumental in this growth.

Each of those chapters was a testament to resilience, learning, and persistence—a journey meant to inspire you in your own endeavors. But through this process, a critical question arose: What is the ultimate goal, the "object of the exercise" that drives this work forward?

The initial objective was to build a community and earn a living by teaching English. But the actual purpose was never about a single, narrow goal. It was about something bigger. Teaching English was a vital first chapter—it was where the foundational skills of simplifying complex ideas, guiding a student through a process, and demonstrating patience were honed.

The online English teaching market has been a fantastic place to start. However, like any market, it is constantly evolving. It can be tough to accept that the only constant is change, and sometimes a passion can feel like it's becoming a chore when you're just trying to keep up.

I've realized that the greatest purpose isn't to remain in a single market but to apply what has been learned to a new, exciting field. This realization has led to a strategic, new direction.

So, the business is making a pivot. The ultimate objective is to teach people how to build businesses that are not only profitable but also sustainable and have a positive impact on the world.

This is a shift from teaching a language to teaching a mindset. It's about leveraging the same skills that have been used for years and applying them to a new, exciting field of entrepreneurship and social impact. This new direction is not a deviation, but a strategic evolution based on a deep-seated belief that business can and should be a force for good.

This is a movement that is happening on a global scale. We are seeing major companies and forward-thinking entrepreneurs around the world developing new sustainable business models—from creating "closed-loop" systems that turn waste into new products to utilizing new technologies to reduce environmental impact.

The demand for businesses that prioritize environmental responsibility, positive social impact, and economic viability is growing rapidly. The era of prioritizing profit at any cost is giving way to an approach that emphasizes long-term sustainability and environmental responsibility.

Businesses that are laser-focused on this quarter's profits often miss the larger picture of sustained earnings over time—they are so busy racing ahead that they fail to build a foundation that can last.

This is where this new chapter begins. The goal is to create courses and resources that show you how to start and grow a business with this new mindset.

Think of it as a toolkit for the modern entrepreneur—someone who wants to build something that lasts, something they can be proud of. This is about creating a business that not only provides for you but also contributes to a healthier planet and a more equitable society.

This new journey is a natural continuation of everything that has come before. The Global Language Community was established to foster connections among people from diverse cultural backgrounds. The story of overcoming hurdles was about resilience and finding a path forward.

This new chapter is about empowering others to build businesses that reflect the same core values of connection, resilience, and purpose. It's the next logical step in a journey that's always been about more than just one thing. It's about creating a legacy. Let's embark on this journey and be amazed at just how far we can go. This is the object of the exercise!
